About Japan: KYOTO THE TOWN OF GEISHAS

For a westerner geisha is something quite mysterious and there are many misunderstandings about their work. As I understand now she is something between the hostess and  the performer and that she has nothing to do with any sex-business. Kyoto is the only town where is the school for geishas. And there is a whole district for geisha culture called Gion. When we visited Kyoto there was geisha-weeks going on. It means that if you have geisha dress you can go free in public transport, museums and many cultural events. So it was very nice to find geishas here and there.

You can also see everywhere these funny face on mirror. It is the logo of Yojiya, the most popular cosmetic mark in Japan. I don´t know if she is geisha, but I had this strong feeling of geishas every time I see this picture. I hope you have also an opportunity to feel this extraordinary suspense which geishas create.

About Japan: MANGA MUSEUM in Kyoto

It was almost like a pilgrimage for me to visit Kyoto International Manga Museum. And it really was not a disappointment. It was so cool and good place. It is located near The Nijo Castle, huge castle of late Shougans.
MANGA ( comic books) have been playing a significant role in Japanese culture nowadays  as its big brother ANIME( animation films) too. And it have a great international value.
The place is so interesting and living. There are almost endless walls full of manga books assorted in years. People go there just to read manga. They can have a card to go even every day to do that. Then there are all kind of information of making manga and of manga makers. At that time we visited the museum there was the 10 year Retrospective exhibition of Katsuya Terada, a leading illustrator and manga artist of Japan. Unfortunately it was forbidden to take photos, I have photo only of the flowers and one general shot of the exhibition and one pict of his work that i have scanned. Exellent exhibition. Exellent museum as you can see from the following...
